Accessibility

We are dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable voyage for all passengers. If you require extra assistance when boarding, disembarking, or accessing the passenger deck, our terminal personnel will be happy to assist. Once onboard, the mid ship lounge, washrooms, Tour Desk, Purser's Desk, Duty Free Shop and outer decks are accessible.

Please Note: To access the forward observation lounge and coffee shop, you must climb a small set of stairs. The solarium is only accessible by a larger flight of stairs. If you require assistance, please ask one of our crew members.

Please Note: We do not have elevators at our terminals or on board the ship. Please advise personnel at the terminal upon check-in if you need assistance.

TRAVELING IN A VEHICLE

Please notify a ticket agent upon arrival at your departure terminal if you require assistance while boarding the ship. An orange cone will be placed on your vehicle to indicate that you require assistance. Once the boarding process begins, you can do one of the following:

1. If you are traveling in a vehicle with a group (2 or more people):
Following directions from a dockhand, drive your vehicle to the loading area near the vehicle deck entrance. A dockhand or crew member will have a wheelchair ready for you. You will board the ship via the passenger ramp with a crew member. A dockhand will direct your vehicle and the rest of your party onto the vehicle deck. If you do not require a wheelchair, but prefer to board via the passenger ramp for mobility reasons, please let a ticket agent know upon check-in. You can join your party on the main passenger deck.

Persons needing assistance will disembark the ship via the passenger ramp with a crew member. Once your vehicle is offloaded, a crew member will help you get back into your vehicle before going through Customs at your arrival terminal.

2. If you are traveling in a vehicle as an individual:
Following directions from a dockhand, drive your vehicle to the loading area near the vehicle deck entrance. A dockhand or crew member will have a wheelchair ready for you. You will board the ship via the passenger ramp with a crew member while another crew member parks your vehicle on the vehicle deck. If you do not require a wheelchair, but prefer to board via the passenger ramp for mobility reasons, please let a ticket agent know upon check-in.

You will disembark the ship via the passenger ramp with a crew member while another crew member drives your vehicle off the ship. Once your vehicle is offloaded, a crew member will help you get back into your vehicle before going through Customs at your arrival terminal.

TRAVELING AS A WALK-ON

Please notify a ticket agent at the ticket window upon arrival at your departure terminal if you require assistance while boarding the ship. A dockhand or crew member will have a wheelchair ready for you when the boarding process begins. When a crew member is available to assist, you will board the ship via the passenger ramp.

You will disembark the ship via the passenger ramp with a crew member and go through Customs. The Port Angeles terminal does not have stairs. The Victoria terminal has an accessibility ramp in the Inner Harbour causeway.

Black Ball Ferry Line Accessibility Plan

Black Ball Ferry Line developed this Accessibility Plan with the intention of continuing to identify and remove barriers for those with disabilities. The format for this plan is based on requirements of the Accessible Transportation for Person with Disabilities (ATPDR) and the Accessible Canada Act (ACA). We view this plan as a living document that will continue to be adjusted based on feedback we receive and as we work through our action items.
